Text Box: SUNDAY RIVER SKIWAY
Images from 1960

Ski Lodge of the Sunday River SkiWay in February 1960. As I remember the lunch and snack area it was furnished with picnic tables and many families had packed a lunch to avoid paying more for their meals.  This building was the entirety of ski way operations except for the lifts and generators.  It contained an office, a ski rental shop and service area.  Note that the parking lot has not changed much since 1960.  Photo by the author.

Riding to the top of the trails in 1960. There is not much to say about this photo which tells its own story.  A few years later Sunday River installed its first chair lift and extended the trails nearly to the summit of Barker Mountain. Author’s photo.

A Tucker Sno-Cat, Sunday River’ Skiway’s probably one and only trail grooming tractor. The sign on the tractor’s door reads Distributed by Eastern Distributors, Inc., Concord, N.H.  Photo by the author.  Feb. 1960
