This cemetery is located in North Bethel, Maine, and lies adjacent to U.S. Route 2 approximately one-half mile north of the highway bridge that carries the road over Sunday River. Collecting information and photographs was begun in the late summer of 2006.

This cemetery lies in the general path taken by a band of attacking Indians from St. Francis River when they attacked settlers in this area on August 3, 1781. (To the best of my knowledge there were no burials at this site at the time of the Indian raid. The people buried here lived at one time in Swan’s Corner, North Bethel (from Sunday River to the Newry town line near Newry Corner) and in the Sunday River valley of Newry that was near to the Bethel-Newry line.

Some of the people buried here played very important roles in the development of early Bethel and at the turn of the 19^th into the 20^th Century.
