1980 Bethel Planning Board Report

Dana C. Douglass, Jr., Chairman

The new Subdivision Regulations found prompt application to development plans submitted by:

1. Norris Brown and Norman Grieg for the Dole Woods Subdivision on Bailey Road.

2. Ruel Swain and Stuart Cross for a Subdivision off Chandler Hill Road.

3. Dictar Associates for a low-income elderly housing project involving reconstruction and extension of the former Thunderbird property on Main Street.

(The Dole Woods and Chandler Hill Subdivisions were approved early in the year.)

In view of the keen interest shown by Bethel Citizens in the possibility of having suitable housing for elderly citizens with low income, particular attention was devote to the Thunderbird project with numerous sessions of the Planning Board. By early November, the Board was convinced that the applicant had met the requirements of the town as established in the Subdivision Regulations. At its November 5 meeting, the Planning Board approved the final plan for redevelopment of the Thunder property as submitted by Mr. Wasileski of Dictar Associates., subject to the purchase by Dictar of the additional parking area offered by Gould Academy.
